The i3+ isn't able to have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or any other top-rated robots we have tested. It may get stuck on power cords or socks, and may have trouble navigating between different surfaces, like hardwood and rug.
iRobot suggests that you clear areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, which includes putting away any clutter or toys it may encounter. It is also recommended to keep the dustbin and filter clear to avoid getting blocked. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or the battery is depleted it will return to its docking station and automatically emptying its debris into the station's external dustbin and continues cleaning where it started. The battery's life span is approximately an hour and a half of constant use. It takes 3 hours to fully charge.
2. Roomba by iRobot
The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line and comes with the latest technology. It is self-charging and self-navigating, but the most significant feature is the self-emptying bin. This removes the need for routine maintenance.
The Roomba I7+ can make rooms more efficient maps using Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can control your robot through the app or via voice.
The i7+ is more efficient and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from any surface, including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy, though the dust bin is self-emptying which removes a major source of maintenance and lowers the cost of maintenance.
We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning sessions, move itself around the room and sweep a specific space. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. After being connected, to voice commands to the i7+, such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans or buses, this small Dyson model feels like a sports car. It is powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in most homes, yet it is also small enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.
The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces continuous, non-fading power for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system captures allergens, and then releases fresh air into your home. Its specialized head uses stiff nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets and collect large particles or fine dust. It has three different suction modes that can be adjusted to suit the task. It quickly converts from handheld to floor vacuum, and then back to floor.
This model also has a dock that charges to 100% in about 3.5 hours, and gives users an easy access to two attachments and the clip for a wand. This is a huge improvement over earlier Dysons that require a long charge and are difficult to store.
The main issue with the V10 is its short running time. The claims of its marketing that it can provide up to 60 minutes of run time are not true, as CR's testing shows. This is an average not an extraordinary time for an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. It's still enough time to clean most of a home that's average size however, it's not enough to cover every spot (though an additional run-through often will suffice). This model has its own advantages, however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is noticeable superior on carpets with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
One of the most well-known robot vacuums the 694 is an affordable model that's a great choice for people who don't want to invest too much on a robot. It's capable of sucking up most kinds of debris in our testing, and it often goes over the same areas several times to ensure a thorough clean. Its flat front makes it possible to reach corners and the edges of walls.
Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it lacks the ability to map that comes with more advanced models like our top choices and the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series.
